I am in the process of switching these booklists over to a format which will allow me to add exceptional books as we find them without having to redo the whole list. That’s why some of the links on this page will lead to a printable PDF (the old version) and some will lead to a page that will grow over time (the *new* version). New version lists are *starred*
I am still considering how I can easily allow people to print the new booklists, which will be changing from time to time, without creating a whole bunch of unnecessary work for myself. 🙂
Books on these lists are chosen because:
- they are fun to read aloud
- they are well written and include vocabulary, content, and writing patterns that will help children develop emotionally, socially and linguistically
- the illustrations are interesting to look at and enhance the story
- they are well loved at our house (by parents and kids) or in my classroom (by teacher and student)
- they are books we return to over and over
