Wordless Book Wednesday – A Boy, A Dog, A Frog and A Friend

Spring is the perfect time to read A Boy, A Dog, A Frog and a Friend by Mercer and Marianna Mayer, one in a series of wordless books by this duo.

In this story, a boy fishes peacefully alongside a pond while a dog and frog sit nearby. When something heavy tugs on his line, the three friends dive into the water, only to see a turtle walk up the opposite bank with the fishing hook in his mouth. The dog angrily confronts the turtle and is quickly bitten by him. After the dog escapes the turtle’s grasp, and the turtle plays a trick on them, the group accept turtle as a friend and they happily walk off.

These books would be especially fun to read while sitting near a pond or river on a warm spring afternoon trying to spot some frogs and turtles of your own.
